the year ended similar to how it started, with me being a week off from reality. oops.
i am thankful for the way you adjust as needed and don't seem too phased by my calendar mistakes.
it is unbelievable how much the past nine months have held for you.
sometime during this school year you learned to:
climb up the slide confidently
sing more songs than i can count
sign "i love you" and "hook 'em horns"
make it in time to the restroom
introduce yourself
order at a restaurant
be a big brother
pick out your own clothes
help dress yourself
put on (some of) your own shoes
help carry in the groceries
use your imagination to create wild stories
kick a soccer ball into a goal
fall asleep without sucking your thumb
and on and on and on.
you went to school once a week this year from 9am-3pm. you were always so excited when it was a school day. from what you told me about your days it seemed you stayed busy playing with the cars and trains and playdough, painting and coloring, exploring the playground, listening to your bible story, singing songs, and comparing what was in everyone's lunchboxes.
after just a few weeks of school you could proudly name almost all your classmates and we heard stories about them all. we knew who liked to play cars with you, who asked if your shoes make you fast, who bumped into you, and on and on. your friend james was never just called james, you always referred to him as "funny james from school" and levi was always referred to as "levi, not steffen."
you had three of the sweetest teachers throughout this school year. we never grew tired of hearing you talk about "miss beff." one evening after school we were eating dinner and when we asked you if you fell asleep at rest time you responded, "i just rested today. but i did snuggle with one girl." we all tried not to giggle and asked you who, and immediately you answered, "miss beff." and that's exactly where i found you most days at pick-up time, in the rocking chair snuggling with miss beth after rest time.
it is a joy to watch you grow more and more each day.
we are always proud of you grammer.
i love watching you become who you were created to be.

He is adorable and sounds like such a sweet little guy. It is amazing how much he has grown and changed by looking at those comparison pictures.
And he definitely learned to be a big jokester (with a lot of twinkle in his eyes!)
Oh how I love that hilarious blonde haired boy!
