traveling nine hours in the car each way would be worth it
just to recreate this picture again two decades later-
but there were additional perks to this fourth of july weekend together in wheeler, texas.
such as living the laid-back country life for awhile.
lingering croquet games continued by the light of headlamps.
getting to choose your own adventure fireworks,
purchase them from a roadside stand, and light them too.
a reason to hand paint t-shirts and a place to wear them.
discovering the thrill of a high dive.
a full weekend of fun along the town square and at the ranch.
getting to hold the banner for the beginning of the fun run/walk and participate too.
a cookout, whiffle ball, slip & slide, turtle races, ice pops, snow cones, dollar store trips,
running our own bed & breakfast, playing games, and sharing stories.
the middle two ladies in this picture became lifelong friends during their days at texas tech.
karen and carol's friendship has trickled down to all of our lives ever since.
now their kids (and their kids' kids) thoroughly enjoy time together just as much as they do.
cheers to the gift of friends and family and the moments we get to share together.
