"WE'RE GOING TO THE ZOO, ZOO, ZOO...

...YOU CAN COME TOO, TOO, TOO."

although the houston zoo is open 364 days a year,
there is an unofficial ZOO SEASON in houston that lasts from about DECEMBER to MARCH.
that is when the weather is ideal for being in the great (less-steamy-than-the-rest-of-the-year) outdoors.
which is why these are the months we make the most of our season pass.

in the past few weeks we have visited THE ZOO FIVE TIMES.

we went
1) with MELISSA

2) CAMRYN and MEGAN

3) DADDY

4) CHIC, MEL and WITT (on his first zoo trip!)

5) MAZIE and THE CAROLINES.

there is NEVER A SHORTAGE OF THINGS TO SEE, but there is usually a shortage of time.
we've yet to see every animal on one day (although a certain three-year-old would love nothing better)
which is why we came up with the ZOO LIST.

this season we have made a list before each field trip.
adelaide picks a few animals that she would like to see the most.
we make those animals a priority and then any others we spy along the way are a bonus!

CREATING ZOO LISTS has been done several different ways.

1) i have printed a list using pictures of the animals from the zoo website

2) drawn the animals (insert ridicule here)

3) and the very easiest way was using stickers.

we all know these things only work for awhile.
before i know it graham might enjoy this and adelaide will be on to the next thing,
but this season we have greatly enjoyed our ZOO LISTS as well as these FIELD TRIPS.

There are seven million."  -Walt Streightiff

Easton is getting a zoo membership for his birthday in a few weeks and I can't wait to start using it. We might just have to do the zoo list like you did to try and keep the trips under control.
