THAT WASN'T QUITE HOW I IMAGINED IT (part two)...

when i imagined having kids,
i pictured many girls standing in a row.
each in coordinating outfits
and topped off with a bow from tallest to smallest.
i can squeal with the best of them.
my tears know no limits.
i know how to french-braid.
i have a gift for painting fingernails and toenails.
i always imagined how sharing these things with daughters.

when i even tried to imagine having a son,
all i could think of was stinky feet and a stinky bathroom.
this wasn't quite what i imagined:
many people tried to tell me how sons squeeze into a special spot in your heart,
but until i discovered the sweetness for myself i simply couldn't understand it.
i cried the happiest tears the moment he was born.
evan announced, "it's a boy!" and i immediately declared,
"i did always want a son! i just didn't know it until right now."
he runs laps shrieking through the house at bedtime.
he insists his name is (whoever he is pretending to be in the moment).
he gives a commentary for everything that happens every minute of the day.
he not only speaks for himself, he dictates our scripts and insists we use them.
he asks me to stop every two feet on walks so we can pick up each stick spied.
he swings said sticks to and fro with no thought to what gets poked along the way.
he taught me the joys of thomas, buzz and, hermie.
he often declares "i love you" in a drive-by manner.
he knows every word to his favorite songs and requests them constantly.
no detail goes unnoticed or forgotten. ever.
i love that the sisters in our family
have the best brother ever between them.
i love how this guy turned my imagination
of having a son inside-out and upside-down.

this wasn't quite how i imagined our family.
because of this character, it's even better.

I know that I don't have a girl to compare it to, but there IS something about those boys!!! I'm AMAZED by how much they love me...and how they tell me 1,000 times a day! Blessed for sure! LOVEEE seeing your sweet fam...just wish we lived close enough to have a "real life" friendship! :)

I always thought I wanted girls to dress up and now I can't imagine ever having another girl. There is just something about little boys that fill your heart even fuller than you thought possible.

Oh how sweet. You are so right, boys open a part of our heart we never knew we had! It is easy to do girly things but boys have such a sweet joy about them when in nature...such a eye opening experience every time you walk out the door! Reminding us of the simple things in life! Love your thoughts and your sweet family!

I felt the exact same way about having a boy. And I probably even felt that way for a little while after he was born. But now (he is three), he is just the apple of my eye. He, too, tells me over and over and over and OVER how much he loves me. I'll take his stinky little boy hugs until the cows come home! (And I finally see Graham's resemblance to Evan with that orange cap on!)

So true! After Sawyer everyone wanted us to have a girl bc that's how people are ;) But I didn't know how I felt or what I wanted and I was apprehensive about wishing one way or another. When the sono tech announced it was a boy, I cried to bc I was so relieved! I didn't even know I felt that way until she said it, but I'm so thankful for both my sweet boys. Hope all our boys get to meet someday!

Praying all is well with your precious family. I have never commented but always followed your blog and I have never seen you go this long without posting. Praying you are just exhausted, which I would totally understand as I had three babies in 2 years! Blessings!

This latest intercept comes amid tensions with Russia on a wide range of geopolitical issues, though there has been a relative decline in such maneuvers in recent years. US officials believe Russia is sensitive about US surveillance aircraft operating in the Eastern Mediterranean due to Russian military operations in Syria.

Earlier Tuesday, the US military accused Russia of flying military jets from Russia to Libya via Syria where US officials said that Russian markings were removed from the aircraft in an effort to clandestinely deploy the warplanes to Libya in support of Russian mercenaries operating there.
