ONE WEEKEND, THREE THINGS...

i've been looking forward to this past weekend for quite some time. it was the first time in four months we left houston. this is by far the record for our family to ever stay home. there were a lot of great things that came out of so much time at our own house, but i was beyond ready and giddy about a road trip. the fact that it was to abilene only made it even more exciting. and then to top it off this weekend it contained three of my very favorite things: parties, shows, and birthdays. it's a three-way tie which i love the most, so in order of event...

1ST- SIP AND SEE!
it was too fun showing g off to friends and family in abilene. they oohed and aahed over my favorite baby face. i loved every minute of it. i feel certain he did too.

our forever friends- the knights, sure know how to throw a party. there were adorable touches of brown and blue, birds, nests, and eggs in every corner. of course the company was fabulous, and let me tell you, so were the eats. i cannot say how many pieces of sour cream coffee cake, zucchini bread, sausage balls, and spiced pecans i consumed under the guise of "sharing with adelaide." somehow she only ended up eating peanut m&m's she found tucked away on a side table. the same cannot be said for me. and those smart knights have found the only way possible to make the infamous hot cocoa even tastier... they add flavored liquid creamer to top it off. wow, simply amazing.

as for the guest of honor he slept peacefully through all the excitement of being shuffled among all those loving arms. if i may say so myself, he looked too cute in his little striped sweater. evidently i needed to be humbled though, because shortly after arriving he got too hot
in it and was stripped down to his white onesie and khakis. and by the end of the party he even had to be changed out of his cute munchkin-sized khakis due to a faulty diaper. thus the boy in blue pajamas at his own party.

2ND-SING SONG!
it's no secret that i love this event at my alma mater. saturday evening graham was held by one set of great-grandparents throughout dinner and the other greats watched him while we went to the show.
adelaide got to come with us and according to how much she clapped and smiled i think she enjoyed it. i also love the way my in-laws enjoy the show. it's such a fun tradition to watch the show with both sides of our family. i love hearing karen laugh at the clever lyrics. i also love the way every year during intermission i can count on my dad and evan to tell me how good they think the siggies act was (the club my mom and i were each in during our college days). they know i'll be sitting nervously waiting for the awards at the end of the night so they do their part to calm me down so i can just enjoy the rest of the performance. it's so neat to hear the acapella harmony and then end the night with everyone singing "the lord bless you and keep you."

far more important than any level of friendly competition, was this year the winners all gave their prize money to jenny bazillion's family. our hearts are so heavy for this family. i can't imagine the grief they are feeling right now but we will continue to pray for them and share her story (click here) so even more can be touched by her life.

3RD- BIRTHDAY WEEK!
sunday afternoon i enjoyed my first birthday desserts and unwrapped wonderful treats. i may be in the final days of being 20, but instead of feeling old, i simply want to remember to be thankful for each and every day.

Annalee, I really do enjoy Sing Song as my laughter(thanks for not calling it a cackle!) can attest to! But what I enjoy even more is all of us staying at your parents house. They are two of my favorite people!!....Karen
