INGREDIENTS:
vegetable oil
canned biscuits
powdered sugar
vanilla flavoring
milk (not pictured)
DIRECTIONS:
pour a few inches of oil into a pot and heat on high.
tear each biscuit in half.
stretch both halves as long as they will go without breaking.
shape into a cirle pinching the ends together.
stretch out the doughnut shape a bit.
drop a couple "tester" doughnuts into the hot oil.
you will know the oil is ready when the dough starts to sizzle and turn brown.
at that point, turn the oil to medium heat and add more dough.
cook each until brown begins to show from the other side, then flip over using tongs or a spoon.
cook the other side until done, then use tongs to place on paper towels while cooling.
drizzle over the doughnuts while still warm and serve immediately.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EV!
sharing life with you is one of my greatest joys.
i love you.

Happy Birthday, Evan!
I love those doughnuts so much! I learned to make them for a cooking "club" I ran when I was at Brentwood and became highly addicted to them. I think I want them now, actually.
YUMMY! I have never used that icing...we always put ours in cinnamon sugar. We also used a small flower shaped cookie cutter to cut out the middle...that way we also made "holes." I havent done this is FOREVER, I dont think my husband's ever had them. Thanks for the reminder!!
Yummy! Now I need a donut!
