we made cinnamon roll-ups (recipe below) and mini pigs in a blanket (lil' smokies wrapped in crescent rolls) for breakfast. then we spent the rest of the day watching movies, playing with my new iphone, baking, and preparing dinner. around 6pm we went to the hospital to visit witt in his new room and all enjoy christmas dinner together. it was incredible to see the caring service of the hospital staff and the way they worked so hard to make it a safe and special place for the holidays. we are grateful and thankful for a different but special christmas!
and here is the recipe i promised. it originally started as a christmas morning tradition for my family. when evan and i got married we were with his family our first christmas together. they went above and beyond to make sure i felt at home there too. one of the things they did was ask if there were any special recipes i wanted included in the meals. i eagerly suggested i make this and now it is a tradition for both sides of the family! i'll tell you in advance there is a reason we only make them once a year. you can tell by the ingredients it is not the healthiest recipe but how could you not love something made entirely of white bread, butter, cream cheese, cinnamon, and sugar? they are easy and so good, you've gotta give them a try!
