WE'RE WALKING, WE'RE WALKING, WE'RE WALKING...

we will walk 20 miles on friday. then on saturday we will walk 20 miles. and finally on sunday we will walk 20 miles. the breast cancer 3-day walk is this weekend! (fyi- the 2 littlest team members will not actually be walking with us but cheering us on from the sidelines with other family members).

if you are looking for me along the route i will be the one wearing loads of pink and too much 80's gear. supposedly a fanny pack is a necessity for this event. i refuse to call it that though. back in 1988 i wore my "fanny pack" proudly on the ski slopes and at amusement parks. now here i am 20 years later preparing to don one again. i've decided "waist pack" sounds a little less dorky, so for the record it's a "waist pack" i'll be wearing. i'm ridiculously nervous about chafing. which brings me to my next piece of the 80's... biker shorts. i searched academy until i found skintight biker shorts to wear under my walking shorts. this is to ensure that there is no room for chafing. instead of "biker shorts" i'll be referring to them as my "spandex" (which really doesn't sound any better).

thankfully what i'll be wearing isn't what really matters. what does matter is supporting this amazing cause. i am very thankful for all the donations made towards breast cancer research, funding, and treatments. i am also grateful for the opportunity to participate in this special walk while honoring so many special women. i'll be back next week with a full report of how it all goes. in the meantime i welcome prayers for all those participating (especially team marlene's girls), for lack of blisters, and endurance!

I second that about the chaffing. I call my biker shorts my spankies, which sounds awkward but whatever makes you feel like you're not in 1988 is something I support. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I cannot wait to hear back from you in a couple of days. Good luck, Annalee!

I think it's appropriate that you call it a waist pack, because a true fanny pack would be hot pink, hot orange, or hot yellow.

I'll be thinking of you and praying for you!

Just wanted to comment and say congratulations on the 3 day. I am a "stalker" of your blog...actually a friend of a friend or something like that. ANYWAY, I did the 3 day last year and it was SUCH an awesome experience (except the bottoms of my feet were bruised for a few days afterwards!) Way to support a great cause! Maybe I will see you next year!
