our latest road trip was to one of my favorite places, abilene.
on monday, right after adelaide's 6 month well check, we hit the road running.
we listened to a soundtrack of tears over having to buckle up (adelaide not me),
radio static (to soothe those tears), and old school cds to keep us company along the way.

when we arrived our first stop was cajun cones
for the finest shaved ice served by the finest worker, aunt sk.
adelaide loved the ice but she spit out a bite with cotton candy syrup on it.

we spent a lot of time outside soaking up the sun
and enjoying the fantastic new backyard accessories.

bill and hazanne joined us for many meals and
it was fun for me to get a lot of time with my grandparents too.

all that fun in the sun was a little tiring so it's a good thing akm will sleep anywhere.
her poppa should be proud that she will be able to go camping with him.
tuesday morning we woke up and helped fold towels.
then we drove out to tuscola for an abilene teacher reunion at laurie's house.
i loved finally seeing the irby's new home, meeting the baby carter and caden,
and getting to catch up with sweet friends from fannin.

miss priss got to show off one of her first summer outfit made by grammy.
sk and i thought adelaide should wear the too tall bloomers on their own,
but for some reason mom insisted we add the dress.

sarah beth came over and as always it was great to see her,
i especially loved hearing about all the wedding details.
rubey and erika stopped into hotel lutt for the night on their way to colorado.

we all dined on pizza rolls at a picnic, then for our slumber party entertainment
sk taught us how to make shrinky dink jewelry.

wednesday's field trip was to the newly renovated abilene zoo. it is awesome.
sara kate and i loved seeing all the animals and remembering countless past trips to the zoo.
adelaide liked listening to all the noises and loved staring at the running water in each cage.

we visited the creepy crawler exhibit just in case we hadn't had enough snake time lately
and even came face to face with our fears while touching a king snake.
then that night we went to hillcrest and saw the new auditorium and nursery, wow!
we also got to spend time with special family friends.

thanks to the fam for a fun, carefree week!
we love you.

Yeah!!! Abilene is the best! We LOVE going home too! Okay, where did you get the Abilene onsie? Chloe needs that! Adelaide is too precious with that big smile!
awww abilene. it really is the prettiest town i've ever seen...of course that has nothing to do with the actual scenery! i, too, must know where to send my mom to get that abilene onesie!!!! so glad y'all had a great time.
sarah beth got adelaide the "somebody in abilene, tx loves me" onesie right after she was born. i don't know if they still have them now but you can check at the highly sophisticated store called... united supermarket!
loved the abilene update. 2 things...
1. how in the freak does miss priss get cuter and cuter every time i see her (or pics).
2. love your cute summer gray and navy shirt. you're gonna have to let me know where that came from.
love you and miss you (& abilene)
How fun!!! I love Abilene and have been missing it so much lately...I miss TX a lot here lately. It is its own amazing unique place and hopefully, one day, we will return to Texas Our TExas for good. Until then, we are headed that way in two weeks and we will be stopping for a Cajan Cone! Just love them!!! Thanks for the fun post! I smiled all the way! M
Fun! I have noticed that eveytime I see a picture of Adalaide she gets cuter and YOU LOOK SKINNIER!
Adelaide DOES get cuter by the day! I want those outfits in my size.
SO fun! Um...did cajun cones raise their prices since we worked there???? i seem to think that the small's were only $1. Maybe I'm wrong. It's because of gas prices isn't it? All because of gas, they had to raise the price of snow cones too...everything's gone up! What's the world coming to? And did they add more flavors too? I don't remember Lucky Charms...I thought I had the list memorized! I'm loosing my mind!!!!
Looks like you gals are having a fun summer. Poor Evan.
looks like a fun trip!!!
Yes, the twilight series is good. It's different from anything I've read before (you know the whole vampire thing) but I do like it. It took me about 200 pages to get into it! You should give it a try...the movie comes out in Dec, so read it before then!
Mmmmm- Cajun Cones!
Wow! That just took me down memory lane! I miss Abilene and I really miss Cajon Cones!
What a blast. And she is so cute!
You are two busy, travelin' girls! I am loving reading about you and Evan . . . can't wait for the next chapter! :) Adelaide is the cutest thing with those cheeks!
Oh, that outfit is too cute! And just-the-bloomers works too! We went to the Abilene Zoo not to long ago too, and loved it! My, how it's changed since my elem. school field trips!
Wish I would have know you were going to be there. I would have loved to have met up with you!!
Also I am LOVING your love story. It's like a good book I can't put down. Keep em' coming!
I miss Cajun Cones SO MUCH! There is not anything that even compares to it in Houston!
